Information from the various departments of North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences

MAIN CAMPUS, MAWDIANGDIANG: 

NEIGRIHMS is an ongoing project till a full-fledged Postgraduate Institute of Health and Medical Sciences starts functioning. Immediate benefit to the patient population had been affected by starting the Interim Hospital Facility at Polo Hills, Shillong. The State Malaria Institute on the Pasteur Hills, Polo Ground was taken over by the Institute and renovated into an Interim Hospital Facility. The Interim Hospital Facility had been running the services in 4 Departments namely Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Radiology Imaging and Pathology. The two Super-specialties of Cardiology and Gastroenterology had Out Patient Clinics and 30-bedded Wards with 6 bedded Intensive Cardiac Care Unit. Subsequently the departments of Pediatrics, Obs & Gynea, Anesthesia, Urology and Gen. Surgery were added there. The hospital services were shifted to the permanent campus at Mawdiangdiang on 1st June 2006. The departments of Pediatrics were the first to shift its in patient as well as out patient services to the permanent campus. Subsequently all other departments were shifted to the permanent campus and as of today all hospital services are rendered from Mawdiangdiang.
