Aneasthesia department started since Feb 2005. Pain clinic and PAC clinic were started at Interim Hospital in April 2005. Department was shifted to main campus on 20th June 2006 Operative services & Critical care unit were functioning from August 2006. Palliative Care services are also provided presently department is managed by 5 Faculty members, 3 senior Residents and 10 Junior Residents

Anaesthesiology services are provided for major & minor, scheduled and emergency surgeries/procedures round the clock.

The department is providing Elective and Emergency Anaesthesia service to patients from:
- Urology, Neurosurgery, Surgical Oncology, Cardiothoracic Vascular surgery
- General Surgery
- Orthopedic
- Opthalmology
- ENT
- Interventional Radiology
- Non- Interventional Radiology
- Intervention Pain Services

Anaesthesia for Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories

24 hrs Resuscitation services to entire hospital

Critically ill patients as well as post-operative patients are provided intensive care and therapy in Critical Care Unit (CCU)

Pre- Anaesthesia Evaluation Clinic in the OPD block provides services for thde optimization surgical patients for various surgical procedures

Pain clinic takes care of chronic pain patients with interventional and non-interventional therapies.
- The Department is providing round the clock Labour Analgesia services.
- Post-operative pain (Acute Pain) Services round the clock.

- Classes are conducted regularly for MBBS students and Nursing.
- Classes are also taken to update knowledge of technical/non technical staff and Nursing staff.

- B. Targets
- Increasing Research directed academic and clinical services
- To provide regular and updated BLS,ACLS, ATLS training courses
- To provide various other training courses relating to anaesthesia, critical care, pain and palliative care.
- To conduct various conferences, CME, Workshop relating to anaesthesia.
- To conduct various CME, Conferences, Workshop relating to research.
- To enhance faculty development programme
- To provide more simulation training to MBBS student, Residents, staff, and others associated with anaesthesia.
- Conduct anaesthesia camp for anaesthesia, pain and palliative care.

C. Services
- To increase the number of functional OT’s from eight to sixteen OT’s
- Start paediatric, Robotic OT’s
- Enhance our OT’s, ICU, pain and palliative care
- Provide Anaesthesia for Transplant Surgery-Corneal, Kidney, liver and heart transplant
- Acute Pain Services for all post operative patients round the clock for 48 hours of post-operative period or more.
- Post graduate program We plan on intake of 2 students per year.
- Post Doctoral Certificate Course (Neuro Anaesthesia, Obstetric Analgesia) for doctors possessing MD (Anesthesiology or equivalent) qualifications. We plan an intake of 2 per year in each subject
- Critical Care Certificate courses for Nurses (Post Basic). Candidates should have Graduate degree in nursing or at least 3 years experience after obtaining Nursing Certificate. It will be of 2 years duration.
- OT & Allied Services Technician Course- B.Sc:/ Diploma Duration: 3 years. Awaiting Academic Committee’s approval to be followed by NEHU approval.
- Basic Life Saving Training Module.
- DM Cardiac Anaesthesia for Doctors possessing MD (Anaesthesiology) or equivalent qualifications. We plan an intake of 2 candidates per year. Course is of 2 years duration.
- DM Critical Care (2 years duration) for Doctor possessing MD (Anaesthesiology) or equivalent qualifications. We plan an intake of 2 candidates per year. Course is of 2 years duration.
