COLLEGE OF NURSING, NEIGRIHMS, SHILLONG
The College of Nursing, NEIGRIHMS, Shillong is located towards the North of the Director’s Block, NEIGRIHMS, Mawdiangdiang, Shillong. It is the first Institute to start the B.Sc.(Nursing) course in the state of Meghalaya in July 2006 with an annual intake of 50 (Fifty) students per annum.
Understanding the need for fulfilling the aspiration of the students of Meghalaya in particular and the North Eastern Region in general, the College of Nursing, NEIGRIHMS, Shillong took the modest step towards establishing the M.Sc.(Nursing) in the year 2016 with an annual intake of 10 (Ten) students per annum.
At present, the College is offering M.Sc.(Nursing) in the subject specialities of Medical Surgical Nursing, Child Health (Paediatric) Nursing, Community Health Nursing and Obstetric & Gynaecological Nursing.
The College of Nursing, NEIGRIHMS, Shillong is affiliated to North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong and recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC), New Delhi.

To develop a centre of excellence in the field of Nursing Education, Research and Patient Care so as to impart quality education leading to Bachelor/ Master and Doctoral Degree in Nursing for an internationally accredited nursing professionals.

The College is assisted by a number of external Guest Lecturers who are invited to teach the B.Sc. (Nursing) students on the subjects like Introduction to Computer, Nutrition, Sociology, English, Psychology and Statistics and also for the subjects like Nursing Research & Biostatistics and Advanced Nursing Practices for the M.Sc.(Nursing) students. A Few classes on the subjects like Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Medical surgical Nursing I & II, Paediatric Nursing, part of Obstetrics & Gynaecology Nursing, Genetics, Pathology and Microbiology etc. are also being assisted by Medical Faculty of various Departments from NEIGRIHMS Hospital.
The College actively involved in community education, school health programmes, mental health promotion, patient education, national health programmes, etc.

FRESH INTAKE OF B.SC.(NURSING) AND M.SC.(NURSING) STUDENTS, SESSION 2022-2023

The Counseling for Admission to B.Sc.(Nursing) Course, Session 2022-2023 was conducted on the 30th August 2022 and the new session was started on the 12th September 2022 (Monday) and the Counseling for Admission to M.Sc.(Nursing) Course, Session 2022-2023 was conducted on the 20th September 2022 and the new session was started on the 3rd October 2022 (Monday)
Advertisement for Admission both to B.Sc.(Nursing) and M.Sc.(Nursing) Session was uploaded in the Institute’s Website. Registration and Filling up of Application Form was done via ONLINE mode.

ACTIVITIES

College of Nursing Activities:-

22nd February 2022

1. The College of Nursing, NEIGRIHMS organized a One Day Regional Level Webinar in collaboration with USAID Funded Jhpiego - RISE on the theme “Leadership amidst COVID-19 Pandemic : Rise above the challenges.” There were around 400 (four hundred) participants who registered and attended for the Webinar.

The eminent Speakers of the Webinar were :
1. Dr. Latha Venkatesan, Professor-cum-Principal, AIIMS, New Delhi on the topic “Leadership to face challenges among nurses during Pandemic”
2. Mrs. Mamta Verma, Principal Incharge/ Associate Professor, AIIMS, Bhopal was the Speaker on the topics “Barriers toward implementation of effective leadership roles among nurses.”

1st April 2022 to 15th April 2022.

2. Swacchta Pakhwada, 2022 was observed in NEIGRIHMS from Various activities were done during the two weeks program where students from College of Nursing actively participated in Debate, Poster, Nuklad Natak competition and cleaning drive in the College premises.

6th May 2022

3. The Graduation Day for the 4th Batch of M.Sc.(Nursing) and 12th Batch of B.Sc.(Nursing) and Fresher’s Meet for the 6th Batch of M.Sc.(Nursing) and 16th Batch of B.Sc.(Nursing) students admitted during the session 2021-2022 was held in the Institute’s Auditorium.

4. The College of Nursing, NEIGRIHMS celebrated the Nurses Week where students and the faculties participated actively. On 12th May 2022, a combined celebration of World Nurses Day was held along with the Nursing Department, NEIGRIHMS.

5th August 2022

5. The College of Nursing, NEIGRIHMS organized a One Day State Level Workshop on Research Methodology on the theme “Research: Mastering your data” in Lecture Theatre–I, NEIGRIHMS. The Objectives of the Workshop are to gain knowledge on the basis of biostatistics in Research, to appreciate the importance of appropriate interpretation of Research data and to apply the basic SPSS statistical technique in data analysis. 85 (eighty five) delegates from 22 (twenty two) Institutions and health care centres across 7 (seven) District of Meghalaya attended the Workshop. Full Covid protocol was followed.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

The academic activities for the B.Sc.(Nursing) and M.Sc.(Nursing) students were conducted during the year 2021-2022 as per the guidelines of the Indian Nursing Council. Practical experience was largely gained at NEIRIHMS hospital.
