Introduction

The Department of Urology and Renal Transplantation was established in the Institute in January, 2006 in the Interim Hospital Facility. The Department was shifted to the main campus at Mawdiangdiang on 12th June 2006. Indoor facility was initially started in the Surgical Speciality Ward till the separate Urology Ward was opened on 1st March 2007.
The Department OPD is located on the 2nd Floor, above the MRD. Six rooms were allocated to the Department.

Infrastructure

• The Department has got all the latest equipments including Lithotripsy Machine (Dornier MedTech), Holmium Laser (100 watts), C-Arm (Phillips).

Services

Patient Services

• The Department runs OPD twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 AM to 4PM. Routine O.T is twice a week on Mondays & Wednesdays.
• Minor procedures are done on Fridays & Saturdays in the Minor O.T (Room No. 206) in OPD Block. The services provided are out-patient, in-patient, operation and emergency services.

Academic Activities

The Department conducts regular ward round discussions, journal reviews and seminars. The Department is also involved in teaching programmes of MBBS, PG Students & B.Sc Nursing.

• Ten-year surgical experiences with penile cancer at a tertiary care centre in North East India: A retrospective study.

Vision and Future Plan

• The Department is planning to start M.Ch Training and Renal Transplantation Programme soon.
